Meeting Up With Chris And His Mates - 14/4/09

Meeting Up With Chris And His Mates - 19/4/09
Our second day in Sydney. Via many facebook messages, it was established that Chris (my little bro) and his travelling companions, John and Andy were to be in Sydney at the same time as us. Adam and myself both thought that it would be great to meet up with them, offer them a place to stay whilst they were in Sydney and do a bit of site seeing with them.

Having finally got phone contact, we arranged to meet them at Circular Quay, in the city. Circular Quay is the main Ferry terminal area and there also lots of nice restaurants around the quay as well as a few 'techno' didgeredo players dotted around!

Having got to Circular Quay, I suddenly realised just how big and crowded it was! How on earth were we to find them?! "It'll be alright, they'll just phone" Adam assured me. As we began walking around the quay a young 'skin head' waved, smiled and approached us... It was Chris! He had been trying to phone us and couldn't get through! After lunch with Jen and Jonathon (Adam's work mate and his wife) and the 'boys' we headed back to Mosman, the 'boys' in their 'spaceship' and us in a taxi.

The 'boys' arrived without getting lost and settled in for the week.

First Day In Sydney

Arriving In Sydney - 18/4/09
After flying for about 23 hours, we finally arrived in Sydney early on Saturday morning to lovely bright sunshine. A driver was waiting to pick us up and take us to our new home.

First impressions of the appartment were great. It looked just like the pictures I had seen, the view from the lounge window was amazing and most things like the gym, supermarket, shops etc are just a few minutes walk away.

On further inspection we discovered that the owners had left an awful lot of their personal possessions around the place!!
  • A whole wardrobe full of clothes and shoes (none of which I would be seen dead in!)
  • A full fridge (Sadly it was all out of date, I found some cranberry sauce dated 2004, yuck)

  • A full freezer (I didn't check the dates)

  • Cupboards in the kitchen full of tins, packets, jars, bottles etc etc (even more impressive dates found here! A jar of Branston pickle dated 1999!!)

  • Personal family photos.

Adam and I decided that a cup of tea was in order (with our own tea bags and milk) Over tea and tears (from me) it was decided (by Adam) that we should leave our discoveries for the time being and pop into the city on the ferry for a look around.

We found our way to the Mosman Ferry terminal and caught the Ferry over to Circular Quay in the city. By this time jet lag and hunger were catching up with us. Sadly we cracked and went into the nearest eatery we could find... Macdonalds!

Finally overcome with jet lag we decided that an afternoon nap was what was needed to revive our flagging body clocks. On returning to the appartment, the plan was to sleep for a couple of hours. The best made plans, however are always made to be broken, and boy did we break this one! 6 hours later we eventually came around only to have a few hours in the evening before it was bedtime again.
